JAMES AGRICOLE
James Agricole’s compositions are bold in both design and palette and interrogates the effect of light on the world. James joyfully depicts the beauty of Seychelles and its culture. Working mostly with acrylics on canvas, his unique use of colour and intuitive brush strokes accentuate the depth of abundance of our islands and a sense of peace and gratitude that Seychellois feel about their homeland.
James creates vibrant outcomes that delight viewers with a contemporary Fauvist flair.
Many of the land, with beaches sub-divided into honeycomb like surfaces and dramatic skies rendered in a fractured and fragmented geometry. At times the panoramas of Seychelles appear as visual feedback loops. When the artist works in this way he is perhaps closer to the ‘Pop’ artists of the 1960s than Monet and Seurat.
Agricole’s growing popularity with viewers and collectors is fuelled by his signature style and the manner in which he presents authenticity through colours and forms.
James Agricole has represented Seychelles in many local and international exhibitions.
