DORIS NOURICE

Doris Nourrice's main inspiration is the land and oceans of the Seychelles.
Her vibrant interpretations of natural forms and life forms both land-based and aquatic allow her to exploit her talent as an expressive colourist. Her compositions vibrate with the weight of her technicolour interpretations, the brushwork confident and the palette brash and bold. Nourrice also explores the mythology of humanity, with a distinctive Seychelles twist. Compositions feature characters from the Seychelles cast list, including the artist herself, but it is the natural world which engages and inspires her the most.
Doris will step out of her norm of landscapes to experiment with themes on Creole portraiture when inspired by such things as the annual Creole Festival.

Doris’ complex work won first prize in ‘Viv En Kreol’, the Creole Festival Art Exhibition(2023).
Nourrice also creates compositions in multiple parts and mixed media, with her 'Tree' series featuring iconography spread over five segued and interlocking canvases. Such an approach is typical of an artist who is committed to personal aesthetic development with eyes wide open.
